thicker and heavier than they used to be
I loved these mugs when I originally purchased them (from Amazon) in June, 2010. They totally lived up to their name. But when one of them got chipped over the holidays I decided I should buy two more. I awaited my order eagerly, but when they arrived I discovered they were noticeably heavier. The cup walls are thicker and the cup itself thus holds less. The glaze is visibly puddled inside the cup, as well. I've made pottery myself, and I recognize these as signs of lower quality in a ceramic product. It seems the manufacturer has changed since I bought these a year and a half ago, and not for the better. I'm really disappointed. They're still sturdy and machine-washable but they are No Longer My Favorite Mugs. Wah.

1. Delightful coffee mugs
Over the years, I've hunted for the perfect coffee cup. I'm not a fan of thick heavy mugs, but I wanted a mug that was large enough to hold a decent sized cup of coffee. The mugs are much better looking than the picture. When they arrived I opened the package carefully expecting to see at least one or two broken mugs as I have received from other major stores. To my amazement they were packaged firmly in the box and in perfect condition! Also, when I looked at them I was shocked by how beautiful they were! They are dishwasher and microwave safe and look terrific in the cabinet (especially if you have a glass front one) - they honestly looked too good to use! I purchased two different sets of Maxwell and Williams mugs and I love both sets. My wife had to convince me to finally use them because that was why we bought them in the first place. I love them just for the artwork and quality. I would recommend this product to everyone.

2. Not impressed...
I bought these for my boyfriend for Valentines day. They are very pretty but are definitely not 15 1/2 oz cups. I was expecting them to be much bigger and hold much more coffee. Tiny cups, would very much recommend getting a nice 20 oz set because they are nice, but we just don't use them as much as we should because of their capacity.

1. No protection in packaging, arrived badly chipped
The mugs are beautiful, but unfortunately, the manufacturer didn't seem to think there was any need to pad the mugs or pack them securely. There was so much empty space that mugs were able to bounce around a LOT, even to completely turn on their sides. The first two I took out of the box were badly chipped. I didn't even bother unpacking the others. At least amazon.com makes it easy to return defective products.

I think is better to buy this staff from a market or shop center instead of buying it online, at least you can check the mugs before you pay for it. The stand is very low quality , and the package come with two broken mugs. The decoration on the mugs is not a beautiful like the picture says. So the overall quality is poor.

Bad packaging and so so quality
I got this set also and agree with other reviewers that the packaging was bad. I also got 2 chipped mugs. It's a pain to return because it's not through Amazon and I have to get it to the post office or somewhere to weight/pay/ship it back myself. From "far away", the set looks cute. Looking close, the quality of the mugs is poor and the stand is flimsy. Now I am sitting here waiting to get a refund, 2 new mugs and hopefully a refund for my shipping return as well. Third party sellers are starting to spook me on Amazon. Too complicated to deal with when there is a problem. They simply do not want to deal with you. I am paying extra attention now to see if I am buying something from Amazon or through another dealers.

The artwork on the cups is great, and I am drinking coffee in one as I write this.
These will be a great additon to my home.

1. These are exactly what I was looking for.
These are huge cup-bowl things. I love them. They can easily hold a huge bowl of cereal, sides at a dinner table, they can be microwaved and they clean easily. They ARE fragile, I had some shipping issues but do not let this deter you. The service I got from this company was absolutely amazing, I got replacement bowls no questions asked and the seller stayed in contact the whole time. They were genuinely interested in my experience.

1. Beware: Size is labeled inaccurately!
All of the other coffee mugs of this brand (Maxwell and Williams) are marked 15 1/2 oz., which was too small for my needs. So I purchased these because they were marked a full ounce larger. When I received them, I was shocked at how small they appeared to be. So I measured the capacity...nope, they could only hold 15 1/2 oz. and that's with the liquid all the way to the rim. It wasn't worth it for me to return them, so I'm making do. But beware if you are really in need of the 16 1/2 oz. volume...these are not them. Other than that, they are very nice.

2. Just what I wanted
I love my mugs. They are colorful and elegent. The shape and size fit the dish washer just right. They hold a good amount of coffee and keep it warm much longer than my regular mugs. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

1. Two and a Half Men Striped Mug But SAFE?
Got mine direct from the makers who provide them for the show. I called first to make sure they are safe. Was told on the phone they ARE from China but tested safe. Yet, found out on the CBS Television website that they contain lead & cadmium etc etc who who knows how safe OR unsafe they are!
They ARE gorgeous and cheap if bought from correct source. Handles are comfortable and never hot but the cup body itself does heat. GREAT cups if they don't kill me.....There are 3 different color combos I know of. I have this color in my 1st set.
Below is the warning I found with this mug:
WARNING TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: The colored artwork or designs used on this product contain lead and/or cadmium, chemicals known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. This warning is required by Proposition 65.

2. unusable for microwave
I bought these as a gift, and I have to replace them with something that works. These are supposed to be microwave-safe, but the handles heat up in the microwave. Obviously, the mug contents and the part of the mug touching the contents will heat up, but the handles shouldn't be hot when the beverage is hot.

1. adorable little mugs!
Initially purchased Rachael's orange "Round and Square" dinnerware when they were first announced, and when I saw that she had this "Little Hoot" collection, really wished I had the room to get these as well!

Realized a few weeks later that Amazon had begun to sell these new dinner sets broken-up into piece sets and place settings, and saw a set of these 4 Little Hoot mugs as an Amazon Warehouse deal for super cheap, so hopped on it and got them and I couldn't be happier.

These mugs are about 4 oz. smaller than the ones in the RR Round and Square set, but they add some kitschy whimsy to my retro kitchen, and they also work really well with the mentioned orange set. I use these every morning for my coffee now and they make me smile when I see the little owl!

1. Color Different Than Pictures
So the main reason I got these was for the blue color. I just bought a Keurig that's black and silver with a blue LCD screen. I wanted blue mugs to match the screen and blue light in the water tank. In the pictures they look bright cobalt blue. The mugs I received are more of a cornflower or periwinkle blue. Definitely not happy. In addition, they all have minor imperfections. Yellow parts where they were not entirely painted over the base ceramic, and some rough spots and even some dents in the ceramic.

Nice size and shape, I like the black inside, but definitely not what I expected.

2. Good cup
Good cup for coffee, comfortable handle. The only thing I would change is the inside color - from black to white or cream color. Black on the inside makes it difficult to see how full the cup gets in low light.

RUSSET COLOR EQUALS REDDISH NOT RUSTY-BROWN TONE!
I really like the weight of this mug and the placement of the handle. It's a good size too. My only complaint is the russet color is not a rusty-brown; it's not a brownish-orange tone in any way. The color falls is the red family! I returned this set and purchased the sand beige instead. I hope the color isn't too bland.

Part II: I received the sand beige set. Unfortunately, one mug had a black stain on the handle so I returned. FYI - This color is a light YELLOW-tone not a neutral beige tone. I give up!

1. Perfection
These cups are absolutely fantastic. They are the perfect size for us....not like the huge fish bowl cups, or the "regular" tiny cups that are normally acquired with dish sets. We have a keurig, and we like to get the best bang for our buck out of the kcups. I find that if put on the largest cup setting, the coffee comes out a bit weak...when put on the smallest or next size up from that it comes out a bit too strong. These cups are perfect for the next to last setting, which in my opinion brews the perfect cup of joe from the keurig. It doesn't fill it up to the brim, leaves just enough room for cream and sugar (should you like that), and they're absolutely lovely! We have owned several coffee cups (as I have a bit of a coffee cup addiction), but now all we tend to use are these cups (us/we being my husband and I). They're also great for using when entertaining as they're all different colors, so you don't have to worry about who's coffee is who's. The colors are beautiful...

2. Nice mugs, bad quality control before packing
Received the mugs today, (Tea Enthusiast) and the blue mug has a chip taken out on the rim right next to the handle. I looked all in the packing and there wasn't a chip to be found. It had to have happened before packing since it was well packed. The mugs were in a cardboard box with inserts between the mugs and bubble wrap around the cardboard box. It was then packed into a box, which was packed into another box. In all 2 boxes, the bubble wrap and the cardboard the mugs came in, there wasn't a chip. Am I going to send this whole set back to wait for another set and it may have problems? I think I'll just keep this set and throw that mug out or plant something in it or maybe a change holder.

As for the mugs: They look okay. I would give it as a gift. The words are indented/stamped into the ceramic of the mugs before baking and then painted. I didn't see any runs or drips or bad painting like others have. It seems to me that these mugs may come from different...

1. Disappearing Decal After Only 2 Months
What a disappointment. I got this for my adult son, who was, at first, thrilled with it. Pour in the hot water, make the Tardis sound and watch it disappear and reappear on the other side of the mug. Do it only once, never again....

We've always washed this mug by hand in lukewarm water, no soap, no scrubbies, just using our fingers, lightly. No messing with the outside, we wanted to be extra careful the decal didn't come off.

Sadly, it started to chip, when dry, almost immediately. And today, after 2 months of occasional use, not even once every day, I was rinsing the mug, as always in lukewarm plain water, and a lot of the decal just slid off on my fingers. When I looked at the mug, much of the decal still on the mug was wrinkled, so I left it. After it dried, most of what was left was glued back on, some areas weren't. 2. Terrible quality
I was SO excited when I received this as a gift. Being a huge Doctor Who fan, I obviously love this mug. Disappearing TARDIS? Awesome idea. But after just ONE wash, the paint started chipping off. I kept using it because I just loved it, but after 4 washes, the entire mug is almost bare.
As a note, I don't have a dishwasher, so I hand wash using non-acidic, all natural dishsoap. I could understand if this isn't dishwasher safe, but please, I didn't even use a scouring pad.

The perfect cup for Doctor Who fans
This is just a wonderful cup for Doctor Who fans. My son got one for his sister, and the TARDIS still disappears and re-appears after several months of regular use and hand washing. At 12 ounces it's the size of an average coffee mug so she doesn't fill it quite up when she makes a cup of tea so the tea steeps strong enough for her tastes. She's been simply thrilled with it and I've been very happy with how well it's held up. No fading at all on the image.

EDIT: The first couple of months the image held up just fine, but then the decal started peeling. My daughter was very disappointed, she loves this cup. We are currently using it for holding pencils so it doesn't need to be washed. We only hand washed it, it's never been in a dishwasher. I recommend rinsing only if you're going to be using this regularly.

1. Handle is comfortable, perfectly crafted
The mugs in this set are the perfect size. Yes, I'm talking about capacity (14oz), but more importantly about shape. They are modest length-wise, but have an impressive width. Why should you care? well, if use your mugs every now and then for anything other than coffee, it allows for easy access with a spoon. Heck, I eat ice cream, soup, pudding, anything I can really find with these cups. They're big, practical and look great. Each member of our household has his/her assigned color, so each person can do as they wish. The grown man's hand can fit in the handle with ease ( I've come across sooo many coffee mugs that were either made by or made for extremely slender fingers and it always drove me wild).

2. Great Set, perfectly packed!!
I was worried I would get a bunch of ceramic chips in the mail after a few bad experiences with UPS, but I was very surprised to see the package included two layers of bubble wrap. I got the solid set (I'm sure the other styles are nice, too, but I wanted to go conservative) and was really, really pleased with the quality and the colors. The paint job is perfect and you don't have any of the marks you often find on similar items.

Cute!
This set is really cute and functional. The product is packaged extremely well, so we didn't find any chips or breaks. The cups are REALLY big. Don't take this jumbo lightly, this is for the extreme coffee-addict in the family. Personally, my husband and I use them as soup bowls as well sometimes; why not looks silly, but it's functional.

They are very cute, however the spoons are easy to break. They seem to very fragile. These cups are great when you have company. Nice looking, very adorable. They aren't thick stoneware, but they are well worth the money.

Perfect coffee or tea mugs...
I love the new mugs. I made some tea with a friend the other night. She loved that the spoons come attached to the mug. Great size too...I'm hosting guests next week and bought these mugs so we can have coffee in the AM. The spoons and mugs seem slightly thin and maybe easy to crack (I have an old fashioned porcelain sink that cracks anything delicate...) so be careful when washing these mugs.

2. Colorful set
I was looking for additional coffee mugs, and had little room left in my kitchen cabinet to store any. When I saw thie set and the price, I was sold.

The cups are small, enough to hold about 11oz of coffee with milk. I am a big coffee drinker, have to use the smallest Kuerig setting in order to add milk.

The texture isn't glazed, sort of an unfinished feeling. But the pattern itself is really cute with coffee beans on them. I love the bright colors. They are easy to clean.

The stand is perfect and keeps each cup close together. I'm only afraid of chipping them when I place them on the stand, but so far so good.

1. Great cups, just a little pricy
We actually ordered two sets for a total of eight cups, even though I thought they were a little pricy. BUT the quality on these cups is amazing, the red is an exact match to my other (Kitchen Aid) red items. The 14oz is perfect if you take a little creamer in your coffee because it won't overflow.

Excellent very useful mugs
I bought these cups number #1 I needed coffee cups :-) #2 their Size and #3 for their appearance. Overall they do not disappoint and i needed larger mugs for the 12oz keurig setting they are the perfect size for me as i like my coffee light and sweet there is plenty of room to accommodate the sugar and milk. There bold appearance did not disappoint either i bought the ocean blue and i am happy with the color. I do have large hands and they could have larger handles but its not a big deal as the form and function is appropriate. I am giving it four stars because there are some flaws in the coating on some of the cups the coating is real thick and drippy not a big deal either. Also they are made in china and it says so right on the bottom of the cup in bright white letters so the price really does not warrant spending $20 but for four nice looking mugs I am happy.
